Thanks for taking the time to look at my portfolio. I would appreciate having you consider purchasing rights to use my photos in your puzzle line.

In this portfolio, you will find a sample of the pictures I have displayed on PhotoByFred.com since establishing the site on October 26, 2004. The pictures are presented in a thumbnail index view, and in a slide show. Clicking a thumbnail brings up the slide for that image. The purely HTML slide show will run on just about any computer that has a Web browser, with no additional software installed: Clicking the "Play Forward" or "Play Backward" button will show the current picture for five seconds, then advance to the next (or previous) picture every five seconds, until the "Stop" button is pressed, or until the end of the slide show is reached.

The pictures in this portfolio are shown at 1024x768 (pixels) resolution. Therefore, the presentation is best viewed on a screen with a resolution of at least 1280x1024 pixels, to insure there is room for the browser user interface components and the slide show buttons without excessive scrolling to view the entire picture.

The portfolio presentation can be accessed directly through this link (and other similar ones on this page), or by navigating to the 1024 directory on the portfolio CD.

I've also provided a lower resolution slide show for smaller screens: The slide show accessed through this link only displays the photos at 640x480 resolution, which should be usable on a 1024x768 screen.

Since my youth, I've always been fascinated by jigsaw puzzles, and the pictures displayed on them. Consequently, one of the things I consider when composing a picture is "how would this look on a thousand-piece puzzle?" To successfully get a positive response to that question, in my opinion, the finished picture must be an interesting subject by itself, and the scene must have enough variatons and similarities to make the puzzle a challenge. The pictures in this portfolio are a few of the ones I've taken that I think would be good choices as puzzle pictures.

The catalog on PhotoByFred.com is constantly growing: I add a new picture each day. Subscribers can have their [Windows] desktop updated automatically with the picture of the day. The subscriber program also provides direct links to LimitedEditionPhoto.com where prints of the photos in the catalog can be purchased. I expect to have similar marketing avenues in place for puzzles and other related merchandise.

I also have a substantial collection of other pictures, in addition to the ones that have been displayed on PhotoByFred.com. While my pictures cover a broad spectrum of subject matter, the things that most often catch my eye tend to include:
  • urban landscapes in available light
  • "edge lit" cityscapes (dawn and dusk)
  • "windows of fire" - sunset/sunrise reflections
  • still life arrangements
  • flowers and foliage
  • interesting machinery
  • architectural studies
I can arrange for additional portfolios in any of the above categories, upon request.

Once again, thanks for your time and interest. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or would like to make arrangements to use my photos in your products.

Moonlit Snowscape, Harvard, Mass.

Moonrise on Christmas Eve 2007 was a spectacular sight: Climbing through scudding clouds, the luminous orb carried an almost magical air into the evening soon after sunset. December's blanket of snow had been rained on earlier in the week, and the arctic air that followed encrusted the landscape in a tough reflective shell of frozen waves and patterns. If you saw the Moon that night, you will surely remember it...
