Stairs Beyond Human Reach, Old North Station, Boston | ||
It isn't a gate to a prison or a concentration camp, although the coil of barbed wire makes it look like it might be. It's not a stairway to Hell or some other manifestation of demonic dangers...
The MBTA's old North Station elevated line was taken out of service at the end of July, 2004. Within just a couple of days, the rails had been ripped up, the wiring torn down - and the stairs to street level had been demolished - to a degree.
