The snow had been cleared off the front porch, and I had seen pavement at both ends after I shoveled the steps - but there was still snow in the air, and the "clean" state didn't last long. Penny insisted she wanted to go out to see what it was like. She discovered there were no warm or dry places to put her feet, and couldn't get out of the wind with the snow blowing in it, so she decided that being inside the house really was the best place to be, after all.
